Woke up to Newtown Schools on a two hour delay and at least 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground already and certainly more coming. With no kid transport duty required, I quickly dressed for a ride in the woods and got on Fat Amy.
There was maybe an inch of snow on the Poly Brody Forest Road to start but the deeper I got into the forest the deeper the snow got. I kept my eyes open looking for the bear but I didn't see her nor any tracks.
While the snow wasn't wet it still clung to all the pine and hemlock trees that the Gussy runs by and under making riding a little stop and go while either trying to ride around or take the dump of snow from the branches. I was able to get some off before riding through but I had to stop and shake a few trees.
Further down the Gussy, the snow got deeper and started to get a little dishy to the point where opted for a little more caution. I had a few slips and dabs here and there, but overall it was great ride.
Even Fat Amy's front tire had no issues. By the time I got home, however, I was drenched. Also, found out that school was cancelled. No matter, with all this snow I figured I would get more work done working from home rather than trying to drive to office. Granted, with all the this snow, I am not sure what it will mean for my first commute this Wednesday.
